Text Line Comparer
How to use the Text Line Comparer
Paste your first list into List A and the second into List B, with one item per line. Choose whether to ignore case, trim extra spaces and skip empty lines, then click Compare. The tool shows which lines appear only in A, which appear only in B, and which appear in both. Each group can be copied separately. Everything runs locally in your browser.
Example
If List A is apple, banana, cherry and List B is banana, cherry, date, the result is: only in A is “apple” (removed), only in B is “date” (added), and “banana” and “cherry” are in both.
What the options do
- Ignore case: treats “Apple” and “apple” as the same line.
- Trim spaces: removes spaces at the start and end of each line before comparing.
- Skip empty lines: ignores blank lines.
Common uses
- Comparing email, keyword or product lists
- Finding new or missing items between two exports
- Checking which URLs or IDs appear in only one list
- Cleaning up lists before importing them
Frequently asked questions
Does it compare line order?
No. It checks whether each line exists in the other list, regardless of position. Duplicates are reported once.
Does it show changes inside a line?
No. It treats each line as a whole, so a line with one changed word appears as removed in A and added in B.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The comparison happens in your browser.
Limitations
The comparer reports exact line matches and does not perform semantic or fuzzy comparison. Very large lists may be slow on older devices. See our Disclaimer and Privacy Policy. Browse the full tools directory. Related tools: Word & Character Counter, JSON Formatter & Validator.
